In a clash of titans which had fans on the edge of their seats, Atlantic Club Football Academy (ACFA) and Deutscher Turn und Sportverein (DTS) under-11 teams went head-to-head at the iconic Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) sports field on Saturday, which saw ACFA come up trumps with a 5-1 victory.
From the opening whistle, it was clear that both teams were hungry for victory, unleashing a display of football prowess that left spectators in awe.
DTS came out swinging, with Noah Jantjies securing an early lead with a well-placed goal, keeping his team ahead throughout the first half.
However, football is a game of twists and turns – and the second half belonged to ACFA.
Jayden Guiseb’s equaliser signalled a shift in momentum, as ACFA unleashed a relentless barrage of attacks.
Goals flowed freely, with Sebastien Supfield, Anton Thum and a brace from Fidel Boois leaving DTS reeling in their wake.
The final whistle blew, and ACFA emerged victorious with a commanding 5-1 win, showcasing their dominance on the field.
But ACFA’s triumph did not end there.
In the under-12 category, they faced off against Swallows, delivering a masterclass performance that left their opponents stunned.
With Swallows’ goalkeeper sidelined by illness, ACFA capitalised on the opportunity, storming to a 9-2 victory.
Despite Swallows’ valiant efforts, including midfielder Douglas Uirab stepping up to fill the goalkeeper role, ACFA proved to be a force to be reckoned with.
The first half saw ACFA take a commanding 5-2 lead, setting the stage for a second-half onslaught.
Four more goals followed, solidifying ACFA’s dominance and leaving no doubt as to the outcome of the match.
“We played well, we scored a lot of goals, but we could have scored more,” remarked Fabio Tjihero of ACFA, reflecting on his team’s stellar performance.
While Swallows managed to find the back of the net twice, it was ACFA who emerged victorious, showcasing their skill, determination and unwavering hunger for success.
As the dust settles on this weekend’s matches, one thing is clear: ACFA has firmly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in youth football.
