Affirmative Reposition (AR) member Job Amupanda has been invited to attend the African Youth Conference on Social Justice and Democracy in Tanzania, Dar es Salaam later this month. Amupanda will join 42 other young leaders from 12 countries from eastern and southern Africa on September 27 and 28.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Tanzania and FES Botswana invited him.
At the conference, Amupanda said, amongst others he will give context on what is happening in Namibia, discuss post-independence democracy and define it. He explained that democracy is not just about voting but also about value systems which include social economic rights, opportunities and social justice for all.

“Sixty percent of the African population are young people – it’s the reality in Namibia and other parts. We must ensure young people are at the centre,” remarked Amupanda, adding that young people should be injected into leadership position.

An invitation letter states that the objectives of the conference are to provide a platform to sensitize young leaders on issues of inequality, social justice in a global and national context and deliberate on fundamental values.

“Furthermore the conference intends to discuss effective ways of advocacy and lobbying for a progressive public policy, and encourage networking and cooperation among participants,” he added.
