New Era senior reporter, Albertina Nakale engaged the newly elected mayor of Katima Mulilo, John Ntemwa (JN) on some of his strategic plans for the town during his tenure. Ntemwa, a Swapo councillor was elected as the new mayor of Katima Mulilo Town Council last December via secret ballot after a tie in nomination with former mayor, Lister Shamalaza. 

The health status of Namibia has improved steadily since independence, and the government further seeks to improve the country’s health services.

Although the government has established decentralisation programmes to bring development and services closer to the grassroots levels, the marginalised communities within the Bwabwata National Park feel little has been done for them in terms of development and provision of services.

Despite the scorching heat, thousands of Namibians and Zambezi residents turned up to celebrate Namibia’s 34th Independence Day anniversary held yesterday in Katima Mulilo. 

The Trans-Zambezi Highway officially known as the Walvis Bay-Ndola-Lubumbashi Development Corridor (WBNLDC) is without a doubt one of the safest corridors in Africa, as it eliminates the necessity for police escorts to accompany trucks moving valuable cargo along the corridor.

As Katima Mulilo bursts into a hive of activity to host Namibia’s 34th Independence Day, the town enjoys a carnival atmosphere with streets and public facilities cleaned and decorated for tomorrow’s big celebrations.
