The new note is meant to be an enduring tribute to the life, legacy and unparalleled contributions of the late former president Hage G. Geingob.  

In accordance with Section 38 (1) of the Bank of Namibia Act 2020 (Act No. 1 of 2020) as amended, BoN has the exclusive mandate to issue legal tender in Namibia, including commemorative banknotes and coins that celebrate the nation’s pivotal historical events and personalities. 

The commemorative banknote has been thoughtfully crafted to honour Geingob’s unwavering leadership and lifelong dedication to peace, inclusivity and resilience. This unique banknote not only commemorates Geingob’s remarkable achievements, but also celebrates Namibia’s progress as a nation under his visionary leadership.

The new banknote will serve as a symbol of national pride, an educational tool for future generations, and a lasting reminder of the values Geingob passionately upheld. The unveiling of the banknote will undoubtedly be a moment of pride and reflection for all Namibians.
