CESVL to launch next week

The Central Elite Social Volleyball League (CESVL) will officially launch their 2026 season on 14 February, but the first league matches will kick off on 21 February, with the season running till November this year.

The CESVL is a structured, nonprofit social volleyball league that brings people together, strengthen social bonds, and inspires collective responsibility. The league is rooted in Community Social Responsibility (CSR), with a clear commitment to supporting Katutura State Hospital by initiating activities which improve services and infrastructure for the benefit of the broader community.According to CESVL chairperson Getrud Mutendere, CESVL was created to remind people that sport is more than competition.

“It is a platform for inclusion, wellness and connection. Through volleyball, we are building bridges between institutions, nurturing healthy lifestyles and giving back to the community that supports us.” Mutendere said.

The league is the result of a collaborative effort among the Namibia Revenue Agency, Namwater, the Ministry of Health and Social Services, the Namibia Training Authority (NTA), the Business and Intellectual Property Authority, the University of Namibia, and the Namibia University of Science and Technology. The partnership reflects a shared conviction that nation-building thrives when organisations unite around a common purpose.

“This is a league where everyone belongs. Whether you are on the court, on the sidelines or supporting through sponsorship, you are contributing to a culture of unity and shared responsibility. Every game played carries a purpose beyond the scoreboard,≈” Mutendere added.

The matches will be hosted primarily at the Katutura Hospital Volleyball Courts and are open to corporate and institutional teams; sponsorship partnerships are welcome.
