In an effort to expand their presence across different regions and provide financial support to the team, Chula Chula has officially launched a supporters’ club.
According to Luis Kateya, who is leading this initiative, the idea took shape last year following the team’s remarkable rise in Namibian football. With Chula Chula establishing itself as a top-flight club, it became clear that a structured supporters’ group was necessary to unify fans and strengthen the club’s foundation.
“The idea came about last year when we realised how big the team was becoming across Namibia. We wanted to create something that brings all Chula Chula fans together under one banner,” Kateya explained.
He highlighted that beyond just rallying support, the supporters club aims to actively assist with fundraising efforts to ease financial pressure on the team.
“The main goal is to support the club in every way possible, whether it’s through promoting the brand or securing funds. We know Chula Chula is the most-followed team in Namibia, and if we all come together, we can make a real impact. The sponsorship with Pst Bet is great, but it’s not enough to cover everything the team needs, which is why we’re exploring other avenues,” he added.
For those eager to join, registration is open, with a fee of N$50 per person. Subscribed members will enjoy exclusive benefits, including free entry to all matches and access to official team merchandise. Interested fans can reach out to Kateya directly for more details.
Chula Chula chairman, Haufiku Alfred, expressed deep appreciation to the fans who stepped up to make this initiative a reality. “We are immensely grateful for the role our supporters have played over the years. The energy and passion they bring to our matches create an incredible atmosphere, and that’s something we want to keep growing,” Alfred said.
“This initiative is a step in the right direction. It shows the commitment our fans have, and we’re excited to see how it strengthens our team both on and off the field,” he added.
Chula Chula are the current defending champions of the Hage Geingob Cup.
African Stars set the trend last year by launching their own supporters’ club. With this move by Chula, it’s clear that more clubs are recognising the power of fan engagement in shaping the future of Namibian football.
