Coleman plans to make Spanish voyage spectacular

Brave Gladiators star girl Zenatha Coleman is excited about the next stage in her career following the recent announcement that she had penned a deal with Spanish giants Sevilla Femenino Football Club.

Coleman, who was a free agent after leaving Spanish side Valencia in May, has been given a one-year contract for the 2020/21 season, which is expected to begin in September. Coleman has been unveiled and given the stadium tour.

“Grateful to be given the opportunity and here to give my best and make the best memories with this great club,” Coleman wrote on Twitter.

The move was made possible by Coleman’s LTA Agency, to whom she said: “Thank you so much for helping me on this journey, let’s make it a good one.”

Coleman is an experienced campaigner, and her amazing return of 110 goals in just 31 games when she played for Lithuanian side Gintra Universitetas remains one of the most remarkable performances in world football.

The midfielder joined Valencia in 2018 and scored 11 goals in 42 appearances over two seasons. Coleman has captained the national team, including when Namibia hosted the 2014 African Cup of Nations. In 2014, she was nominated for the Confederation of Football’s Women’s Player of the Year Award.

Coleman will join another African player, Toni Payne at Sevilla. The Nigerian forward – who won the 2012 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship while representing the United States – has been at the Spanish club since 2018 when she moved from Dutch Eredivisie side Ajax.

Sevilla has been struggling in the Primera Division having failed to finish above 10th in the last three seasons in the 18-team league. The club has, however, excelled in the Copa de la Reina where they have reached the semi-finals in the past two seasons.
