Directed by Lucia Kim Hamunghete, the film brings together passionate local creatives to tell a modern love story that celebrates love across cultural lines.
Crossover Hearts is scheduled for release on 31 January at 20:00 on Zambezi Magic, a platform that showcases African stories to a wide audience.
The key crew includes producer Nadia van den Heever, cinematographer Didi Reloaded, and lead actors Uakamburuavi Jeomba and Timothy Mulondo.
At its core, the story celebrates love without limits. “The central theme is love that knows no boundaries, Namibia’s cultural diversity, and how love unites us all,” Hamunghete said.
The story leans into a romantic comedy theme while addressing cultural clashes and modern dating dilemmas that many young Namibians can relate to, especially in today’s interconnected society.
Bringing this vision to life carried its challenges. Hamunghete said one of the biggest hurdles during filming was managing complex scenes with multiple actors.
“One of the biggest challenges during filming was shooting scenes with four or more actors. We had an extensive shot list and limited time to film,” she explained.
The team worked under pressure, especially as it aimed to test itself against international production standards.
“Strong teamwork helped us pull it off,” she said.
The film’s target audience is mainly for people who enjoy romantic comedies with depth.
“If you enjoy RomComs and films about cultural clashes and modern dating dilemmas, then Crossover Hearts is for you,” Hamunghete highlighted.
“The team aims to promote the film through an active social media campaign, driven by the belief that given the diverse country we live in and the rise of interracial and intercultural relationships, this film is one that everyone should watch,” she said. -mamunyela@nepc.com.na
