Dream league expands vision with a rebrand

The Dream Social Football League (DSFL), now rebranded as Dream Sport Network (DSN), hosted its end-of-year function on Saturday with a series of football matches, including their DSFL Cup, Founder’s Cup, and DSFL staff match, followed by the awards ceremony.

According to Shalom Amutenya, the founder of the initiative, which was started in 2012, the rebranding represents growth, unity, and a broader vision for community development through sport.

“When I first started DSFL, the goal was to use football to bring people together, promote discipline and tackle social issues such as substance abuse and youth idleness,” Amutenya explained.

He further stated that the rebranding was necessary to realign their initiative with the inclusion of multiple sport codes, such as netball, volleyball, basketball, and tennis, and to create a platform that supports more athletes. The DSN football league will now include female, youth, and veteran divisions.

Hilma Shoopala, DSN Manager, described the event as as a reflection of what they planned it to be throughout the year and commended the large turnout.

“I would say the games before the actual matches were our biggest highlight, as well as the final football match between City Warriors and Nors Invincible, culminating in a win for the Warriors,” Shoopala added.

Ronnie Tjomita, captain of the DSFL Cup champions, City Warriors, praised the DSFL, saying “the league has helped to keep us disciplined and improved teamwork.”

With this new expansion, the organisers hope to attract more people to join in and collaborate to make the rebrand a resounding success.
