The annual Dundee Precious Metals Tsumeb Golf fun day was held in the copper town recently, attracting
more than 80 golfers from around the country and South Africa.

Spokesperson at Dundee Precious Metals Alina Garises said the aim of the annual fun day is to generate funds for the Dundee Precious Tsumeb Community Trust that runs developmental programmes within the local community.

“We have a commitment of ensuring that the residents and the community of Tsumeb at large are taken care of through the Community Trust. Thus, the money gained from the golf day goes to charity institutions in the Tsumeb
community.” she said.

Garises noted that the trust is aimed at developing and supporting programmes that are beneficial to the community of Tsumeb. “One of the aims of the Dundee Precious Metals Tsumeb Community Trust is to develop programmes,
projects and services through financial grants by supporting the residents of Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region and the Namibian nation at large”. The trust has so far disbursed over N$8 million in assisting the community since its inception in 2010, she said.

This year’s first-prize winners were Murray and Roberts, followed by Dundee Precious Metals Tsumeb in second place, and Crossroads in third. Various prizes were won including hampers, fridges, and digital gadgets.
“The annual golf day is going from strength to strength. This year we were able to receive sponsorships
up to an amount of N$140 000”, said Hans Nolte, the vice president and general manager of Dundee Precious
Metals Tsumeb.
