WINDHOEK – The current policy of Athletics Namibia (AN) is still very much relevant and active according to the vice-president of AN Martha Emvula.

Emvula is currently attending an International Association of Athletics Federations IAAF) seminar at the regional development centre for English Speaking African nations in Nairobi, Kenya. Emvula is representing the Secretary General at the seminar on the IAAF’s coaching, education, and certification system, which covers the training and progress of coaches within the various national federations.

Dennis Hibbert of the Erongo Region and Swakop Striders Athletics Club  will shortly leave for Kenya to attend a course on electronic timing and chip timing for road and cross-country races.

From time to time, the regional development centre calls for nominations for various courses ranging from coaching to timekeeping systems and event presentation.

Wherever possible, the federation sends attendees to further their athletics education. Recently, Festus Iiyambo returned after having passed the examination as a Level 3 sprints and hurdles coach.

It is now up to him to carry out the duties he was selected for.
