The FNB NTA Development Programme conducted a tennis teacher/volunteer coaching clinic and FNB Development Tournament in the Oshana Region on May 29 and 30.
The teachers/volunteer course aimed to help teachers start tennis at their schools and have an understanding of the basic coaching skills. Participants from eight schools from Under-10 to Under-14 took place in a Play and Stay tournament. Individual winners received medals in their respective age groups and schools also competed against each other in the team competition.
At the conclusion of the event, NTA Vice President Sam Kaulinge remarked that “tennis development in the northern region is a priority for NTA. In order to grow tennis in the Oshana Region, clubs need to form and facilities need to be upgraded”.
He thanked the Namibian Sports Commission and the Namibian School Sport Union (NSSU) for their support to develop tennis in the north. “The Namibian Tennis Association would like to thank them for their backing and we hope to see tennis flourish in the north in the not so far future,” Kaulinge said.
