FNB Namibia has pledged support for the Brave Warriors’ 2026 World Cup campaign with a sponsorship of N$500 000.

The announcement was made during a press conference held yesterday at the FNB Parkside building in Windhoek, as part of the official launch of the Brave Warriors World Cup Campaign initiative.

The sponsorship will go towards a gala dinner scheduled for 2 August, which forms part of a broader initiative to raise N$9.6 million in preparation for the Warriors’ World Cup qualifying journey.

Speaking at the event, FNB Namibia’s chief executive officer of retail banking, Nangula Kauluma, described the sponsorship as an “honour and responsibility”, highlighting the importance of rallying behind the team on the brink of making Namibian football history.

Kauluma further noted that FNB Namibia’s investment goes beyond branding and visibility, as over the past three years, the bank invested over N$26 million in Namibian sports, of which N$7.5 million went directly to football.

Chairperson of the Brave Warriors World Cup Campaign, Tim Ekandjo, expressed excitement and gratitude towards FNB Namibia and emphasized the importance of the gala dinner, calling it a vital fundraising avenue to ensure the team is well-equipped for the international stage.

According to Ekandjo, the gala dinner will cost about N$1.6 million and FNB’s contribution thankfully covers one quarter of the total cost.

The campaign aims to raise N$9.8 million to be used for the players’ welfare. The campaign has four main objectives; to ensure the nation believes this is possible; to get the team to believe they can do it, to ensure the players are incentivised accordingly and to come together and celebrate Namibia’s qualification for the 2026 Football World Cup.

“We believe it is possible, and we want the entire nation to believe,” said Ekandjo.

Ekandjo urged the different industries, fishing companies, mining and tourism establishments, and all other ministries to show their support by purchasing tables for the upcoming gala dinner.

Warriors head coach, Collin Benjamin, expressed deep gratitude for the generous support.

“We are thankful to FNB Namibia for believing in us and taking the first step. We hope this sparks more sponsorships and broader national support for the team,” said Benjamin.
