Legendary football player Fillemon ‘Kaskas’ Angula died on Monday at his home near Ondangwa.
He was 49 years old.
The Namibian Police Force’s crime investigations coordinator in Oshana region, Frederick Ndjadila, confirmed to Nampa on Monday that Angula was discovered deceased at around 12h00 at Iindangungu village.
“He was found dead in the bathroom of his house, where he collapsed and died,” he said.
He said the deceased was not suffering from any illness. Angula was reportedly last seen at work in the Oniipa area on Friday, and he did not show up for work on Monday, even though he had taken a work vehicle home, which was found parked at his residence.
All calls to him went unanswered, prompting his supervisor to visit his home, where his body was discovered.
He was a legend for both the Brave Warriors and Oshakati City, and was part of the famous Brave Warriors Class of ’98 squad.
He later coached northern outfits Ongwediva City and Young Chiefs in the Namibia Premier League.
Ndjadila said no foul play is suspected, and Angula’s next of kin have been informed.
The body was taken to the Oshakati police mortuary.
