Former TKB’s Bones releases solo album

Local musician and former TKB artist Bones Yamukongo, a Kavango native with a Herero heritage, has released an album titled ‘Not Perfect.’

Yamukongo, who has been creating music since 2009 but came into the public eye in 2012, says he embraces the freedom and challenges of being a solo artist after leaving his crew TKB in 2018 after they had a misunderstanding.

“It’s fun to express your true feelings, and how you feel that moment. You get to decide how you want to do your movements without any inconveniences,” he said.

However, he acknowledged the hard work that comes with independence. He noted that sometimes it’s hard because the work becomes increasingly tough.

The album offers a diverse soundscape, weaving through various genres, while staying true to his Afro-fusion roots. The 20-track album features collaborations with established artists like Slim M.I.G, Mt. Laten Kottini, Artist Gang, Sista Bettina, Chino and Zondieh.

Fans can expect a physical release before the album hits digital platforms.

“I want to finish with hard copies first, then I move into the digital space,” Yamukongo noted.

He also hints at surprises lurking within the album, teasing that two unreleased music videos will soon hit the scene.

While Yamukongo told VIBEZ! he offers no rumours surrounding TKB, he emphasised that he was focusing on personal growth and artistic development.

He added that a lot of people wonder why he left TKB. Like anybody else, they had a misunderstanding but their relationship is good, they sometimes perform together.

“I’m currently working by myself, and improving my art. This industry is not easy, so working solo is the only way,” he said.
