WINDHOEK
A 14-member delegation from Germany is due in the country today to evaluate military equipment aid that their country gives to Namibia.
The 14 comprise five German members of parliament and officials from the federal ministries of defence and foreign affairs.
A statement from the German Embassy said on Friday the delegation, which will be in Namibia for one week, will hold talks with high-ranking members of the Government, Namibian Defence Force, National Assembly and the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.
The delegation will visit Luiperdsvallei in Windhoek, Walvis Bay, Okahandja and Grootfontein where the German aid projects will be presented.
The projects include the deployment of a five-member Bundeswehr Advisory Group, the training of automotive mechanics and warehouse clerks, a multi-phased computer based logistical system, support to a military driving school, implementation of an explosive ordinance disposal programme, supply of medical equipment, donation of MAN trucks and special purpose vehicles/equipment.
This aid, which Germany has given to Namibia since 1992, amounts to N$130 million.
