WINDHOEK-Equipped Dance Academy together with the Zenso Lounge Bar brings you a ‘Get Well Madiba’ charity concert tomorrow at Zenso.
According to one of the event’s organiser from Equipped, Petrina Henok, the concert aims to honour one of the best leaders in Africa, and at the same time raise funds for the Orliindi place of safety in Okuryangava. “Since we cannot go to South Africa (SA) and visit Nelson Mandela, we thought of honouring him right at home. He is one of the political activists we grew up being taught about in school. Nowadays people are diverse and we have people of different nationalities as our neighbours. So we would like to be a shoulder that our neighbours like SA can lean on during crucial times, as well as by practising what we often sing and declare in the African Union(AU) anthem. We are also using this as a way to help this orphanage because we’ve discovered that it does not get much support from the public and we choose to be a blessing to them,” says Henok.
The day will be filled with activities starting from the kiddies section that includes story reading and short performances from 11h00 to 14h00, and an evening section that include the main concert with great African entertainment by the Equipped Dance Academy, high school choirs as well as performances by various local artists starting from 19h00. “Parents should bring their young ones so that they part take in their African heritage through this event and be reminded of history and get inspired to make history. Everyone is invited so that in unity we honour one of Africa’s history makers and at the same time come and do your part in being a helping hand to the needy,” Henok appeals. Entrance to the kiddies’ section is N$10 while the evening section is N$30.
