WINDHOEK – Gymkhana Club Windhoek has just returned from participating in the Inter-Club Show Jumping Challenge hosted by the Southern Riding Club in Johannesburg, last weekend.
Participating clubs were Southern Riding Club, Ekurhuleni Club and Sun Hills Equestrian Club from Johannesburg, OFS Club from Bloemfontein, Kiara Club from Zambia, Moscow Riding Club from Russia and Gymkhana Club Windhoek.
Members of the GCW team included Ami Matthysen, Caitlin Calitz and Nita and Elsa Pallett, who also participated in the 1.00m class. Local clubs provided “rented” horses for all the visiting teams and everyone had two days to get used to their horses before the start of the tournament.
Saturday morning saw the start of warm-up events in preparation for the Individual Championships and Inter-Club Challenge on Sunday. The tourney ended on a very high note when the Namibians were crowned winners in the 1.00m class to return home with the trophy.
