-The HANO Youth Foundation is launching the Aggressive campaign against Passion killing in Namibia on April 8 at Unplaza in Katurura.

Nocky Kaapehi, Executive Chairman of HANO says the campaign will be launched in the conjunction with the Namibian First Lady, Penehupifo Pohamba, who will also be a quest speaker at the launch. The campaign started with its mission on Monday in the Khomas region before the launch and its going to take place in all thirteen (13) Regions in Namibia. “The campaign will channel through governors offices and local development committees at villages. Youths will be invited to these places with the main aim to be inspired, taught  and educated not to take part in this  so-called passion killings in Namibia,” says Kaapehi.

HANO was established in 2010 with the aim of uplifting the youth living conditions in Namibia; to combat crime and fight against HIV and AIDS. The Foundation is a registered as a charity organisation with the Ministry of Health and Social Services (charity number WO440) and is also a proud member of Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture, Namibia Network of Aids Services Organisation  (NANASO), Khomas Regional Youth Forum and Khomas Regional Aids Coordinating Committee (RACOC). “The HANO Youth Foundation aims to help build and harness young people as assets by providing scholarships to disadvantaged students. It has been developed through an innovative process led by young people, which itself has reinforced their capacity to participate and lead,” adds Kaapehi.

He says the Foundation challenges negative stereotypes of youth and demonstrates how young people can positively contribute to development in four operational areas such as organisational development, policy and planning, implementation of after school classes and other projects, and monitoring and evaluation.
