Harry Simon Jr returns to Sunshine stable

Local boxing promoter Nestor Tobias has welcomed back talented boxer Harry Simon Junior to the MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing Academy.

The 28-year-old son of Namibian boxing legend Harry Simon previously left Tobias’ camp twice for the AC Boxing Academy.

He has, however, once again returned to familiar territory – this time with his sights firmly set on a title fight.

Tobias believes that goal is within reach if Simon commits fully to his training and maintains discipline.

“Junior is a talented young man, who remains undefeated after 24 fights. We’re picking up where we left off and will make sure he gets closer to a title shot. This weekend, in the Redemption Boxing event, he will fight in the international welterweight bout against Paul Kamanga, a professional boxer from the Democratic Republic of Congo who is based in Johannesburg, South Africa,” he said.

“Every fight under our academy is designed to improve a boxer’s ranking. This weekend, we’ve lined up a strong opponent for him,” added Tobias.

The veteran trainer emphasised that success in boxing goes beyond raw talent.

“When I talk to Junior, I remind him of his father’s journey and the dedication it took to succeed at amateur level. I encourage him and all our boxers to stay focused and avoid distractions,” he added.

Tobias acknowledged that Simon’s path will be unique, but he believes the young fighter has what it takes to rise to the top.

“He’s not his father. He must carve his own way. But when I see his effort in the gym, I can tell he has the potential to make it big in this sport,” he said.
