Heita and Ndjolonimus shine at WBO Redemption Fights

Saturday night belonged to Mateus ‘The Beast’ Heita, who claimed the WBO Africa Featherweight title after knocking out Benin’s Clement Loko in the fourth round during the WBO Redemption Fights boxing bonanza held at the Windhoek Country Club.

From the opening bell, Heita dominated the ring, unleashing a barrage of punches that ultimately overwhelmed the visitor.

In the co-main event, Paulinus Ndjolonimus captured the WBO Africa Super Middleweight title, stopping South Africa’s Snamiso Ntuli just 51 seconds into the 10th round of their 12-round encounter.

Although Ndjolonimus started sluggishly, his power proved decisive, securing him the knockout victory.

The highly anticipated Harry Simon Jr International Welterweight bout was cancelled after his opponent, Jeremiah Lamek, failed a medical test.

Promoter Nestor Tobias of the MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing Academy expressed gratitude to all supporters, sponsors, and officials who made the event a success and extended special thanks to the main sponsor, MTC and co-sponsor PstBet for their commitment to Namibian boxing.

Heita thanked the sponsors and fans for making the fight possible. “I am bouncing back. I knew that I will take him. I knew that he won’t make it to the sixth round. He is not on my level; I am preparing for bigger things,” he said.

Other results saw Johannes Frela draw with Jonas Jonas (junior welterweight), Paulus Filipus defeat Johannes Hafeni via knockout (super bantamweight), and Elias Moongela beat Philipus Matheus on points (bantamweight).

Erastus Shapaka claimed the national super flyweight title over Simon Festus, Naftalie Sheyapo triumphed over veteran Vikapita Meroro in the national heavyweight clash, while Joy Nangolo stopped Fabian Lamek (bantamweight) and Denzel Silvanus knocked out Lazarus Alweendo (lightweight).
