Historian Sinvula laid to rest

KATIMA MULILO – Historian and teacher Francis Mabuku Sinvula, who died last Thursday at the age of 67, has been laid to rest at his home village of Ikumwe in the Katima Mulilo Rural constituency.

Sinvula, who was also known as ‘Ba Mars’, was a well-known public figure.

At the funeral, speaker after speaker praised Sinvula’s personality and character, saying his week-long funeral preparations were meant to celebrate his well-lived life, even though it was cut short by an untimely death.

The late Sinvula was described by many mourners as a beloved father figure and a dedicated teacher, who devoted his time at school to serving his pupils well.

Speakers also said he took time outside of the classroom setting to share his knowledge with both the young and old.

“He had this unique gift of story-telling and making people laugh wherever he set foot. Hence, he leaves behind a very strong legacy within the family set-up and beyond, and it is a legacy that will live on forever,” wrote one blogger on social media.

Sinvula is survived by his wife Alphonsina, three children and seven grandchildren. -Nampa
