WINDHOEK – Local cycling lovers will this weekend be treated to more sizzling cycling when the much-awaited annual Nedbank Cycle Challenge gets underway this Sunday in Windhoek.
The race will start in Independence Avenue and run through the city before heading to the finish line at the Windhoek Gymnasium Private School.
Cyclists will get the chance to out-pedal each other in the 20km, 35km, 75km and 100km races. All interested cyclists can still register on Saturday at the Windhoek Gymnasium from 08h00 to 14h00.
During the event late last month, event organizers promised an excellent race that would be bigger and better than the previous editions.
As for the defending champion Costa Seibeb, the youngster will be returning to his favourite hunting ground with the ultimate aim of retaining his title after winning the arduous 100km race during last year’s 29th edition of the country’s annual premier cycling competition in an impressive time of 2h 28’ 37”.
The impressive youngster, who currently plies his craft with the World Cycling Centre in Potchefstroom, South Africa, will be the man to beat as he plans to go all the way to defy a strong field of cyclists.
