Muyenga guns for Man of the World

Sports enthusiast Johannes Muyenga says he is excited and looking forward to representing Namibia at the Man of the World 2022 pageant slated for June in the Philippines. Man of the World 2022 will be the fourth edition of the Man of the World pageant. It will be held on 18 June 2022 in Baguio City, Philippines. Daniel Georgiev (27) of Bulgaria, who won the third edition on 11 July 2019, was dethroned, so his runner-up Jin Kyu Kim of South Korea will crown his successor at the end of the event.

The Bulgarian winner was dethroned after he declined to sign an exclusive contract with Prime Event Productions Philippines (PEPPS), which organises the beauty pageant. Man of the World is an international male pageant which aims to use the importance of masculinity and a good fit to advocate for the responsibilities men have to society. “I feel honoured to take part at Man of The World, knowing that I am carrying the weight of the nation on my shoulders,” said Muyenga.

He stated that it is a big responsibility, he is super-excited to represent the Land of the Brave, and can’t wait to show them what warriors are. “Knowing that I am allowed to inspire and make a difference in young individuals’ lives is something that I am taking seriously. This is very important for Namibia because it’s part of marketing and promoting the country”, he added. Muyenga stated that this is more than international exposure, as it has the potential to attract foreign investors to the country. Scooping the title would thus help grow or contribute to the modelling industry in the country.

The pageant aims to use the aspect of entertainment and modelling to advocate the importance of education for all. Pageant co-ordinator and talent scout Bobby Kaanjosa told VIBEZ! that Muyenga will have charity visits, compete in a national costume competition, and a preliminary competition consisting of a swimwear round and evening wear.

“Fashion of the world is a competition where all contestants will wear designs from their countries as a way to promote fashion and design to the whole world. In the last edition, Kennedy Amadhila - who represented Namibia - walked away with this honour while wearing a design by Namibian designer Deon Angelo Mathias,” shared Kaanjosa.

In 2020, a local pageant was held virtually, where Danny Shikwambi from Walvis Bay emerged as Man Of The World Namibia. But due to the postponement of the international pageant, he decided to step down, and Muyenga took over the crown.

The model, wearing many hats as an athlete and Geography, Life Science and Development Studies teacher, is not new to the world of pageantry. Last year, he represented Namibia in the virtual edition of Mr Globe, a pageant from Europe, and finished in the Top 20 to make it Namibia’s first participation and placement. He is also the current representative of Mr NGO Namibia, a platform aimed at promoting non-governmental organisations and their work in the country. Muyenga, who is passionate about sports, trains and works with young athletic enthusiasts in his region (//Kharas). Combined with his education degree, he wants to use this platform to give young Namibian sportsmen and women opportunities through training and mentoring, especially those in schools.
