The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration Safety and Security, in collaboration with the minister of finance of the Republic of Botswana, will launch the 24-Hour operation of the Trans-Kalahari /Mamuno Borders post on 1 April 2023.

According to a press release issued by the ministry, the launch of the Trans-Kalahari-Mamuno border post is very important for economic development in the region.

“The Trans-Kalahari Corridor links the port of Walvis Bay to Botswana’s capital, and it is busy. Due to the launch of the 24-hour operation at these two border posts, transport companies are urged to temporarily cease the movement of trucks from 08h00 until 13h00.

Alternatively, truck drivers are advised to use the Ariamsvlei Border Post,” said the executive director Etienne Maritz.

Recently, Namibia and Botswana launched the use of national identity cards for cross borders movement, and a memorandum of agreement was signed that will allow the two countries to use ID cards as travel documents when crossing the border of the two countries.
