Independence Day Golf Cup tees off on Saturday

Home Sports Independence Day Golf Cup tees off on Saturday

Windhoek

Golf enthusiasts are invited to enter the Bank Windhoek Independence Day Golf Cup, which takes place on Saturday at the Windhoek Golf and Country Club.

The tourney will be played in the betterball stableford format, and tee-off times will be determined by the draw. Players are allowed, however, to indicate preferred times.

Men and women, young and old, as well as experienced and amateur golfers are encouraged to enter the event, which is aimed at commemorating Namibia’s 26th Independence celebrations, as well as the bank’s longstanding support and commitment to the development of golf in Namibia. Bank Windhoek has sponsored golf since the 1980s and currently sponsors the annual Namibia Senior Golf Championship, Namibia Amateur Open and the Namibia Ladies Open Strokeplay Championship.

“The Bank Windhoek Independence Day Golf tourney is an opportunity for golf enthusiasts to celebrate the country’s independence with their love for golf. Golf is very unpredictable, as there are several factors, such as weather conditions, including wind direction that can impact the results, regardless of the handicap of the players on your team. The greens are in excellent condition and the prizes are exciting, but it is the unpredictability that promises fun and excitement,” said Riaan van Rooyen, head of corporate communication and social investment at Bank Windhoek.

Players can enter their teams at the ProShop, at Windhoek Golf and Country Club, or they can call (061) 258 498 for more info.
