Just a few weeks after witnessing Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda being crowned the new International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Super Bantamweight world champion, Namibia has again been handed a golden opportunity to bring a world title home.

One of Namibia’s most promising young boxers, Julius ‘Blue Machine’ Indongo, has been thrown a lifetime opportunity to put his name in the history books of Namibian sports when he challenges undefeated IBO Junior Welterweight world champion Eduard Troyanovsky from Russia on September 5.

Indongo, a WBO African champion, will lock horns with Troyanovsky in Dresden, Germany.  Troyanovsky, a world-class boxer, is still undefeated after 22 fights. He is Russian by nationality, but based in Germany.

“Troyanovsky is a dangerous fighter, but we’re up to the task and have been negotiating this fight for a while now. Julius is also undefeated with a record of 17 fights and 17 wins and that is what will make this fight epic,” said promoter Nestor Tobias.

“We’ve invested responsibly in Julius’ boxing career by slowly moving him up the ranks to gain the necessary experience. He has a big heart and is a hard puncher with an impeccable boxing style, which makes him equally dangerous. Now that the champion has called out his name, he must deliver, because it’s an honour for a champion to call out your name among so many potential challengers in the world.”

“I was disappointed not to fight in August, as my opponent did not make the weight, and now I have an opportunity to challenge the undefeated world champion away from home. I know it won’t be easy, but this is every boxer’s dream.

“I am very happy with my level of fitness and I will certainly go there to win, but I know it won’t be easy. I would like to thank my promoter, our sponsor MTC, and the Namibian government for giving us an enabling environment to represent our country at the highest level of boxing,” said a beamingly confident Indongo.
