Local coach Ronnie Kanalelo has stepped down from his role as head coach of Bucks Buccaneers after nearly seven months at the helm.
Reflecting on his tenure, Kanalelo said the experience was enriching and that he leaves the team in a strong tactical position.
“The standard is set, and for me, it’s off to the next project,” he remarked.
It is believed that Kanalelo could be on his way to FC Ongos, who have just confirmed a mutual parting with their head coach, Agnus Chabala Elemu.
Elemu took over the club 11 months ago from Life Fighters and guided them through two productive seasons.
Reflecting on his departure, Elemu said his time at Ongos was filled with growth and positive experiences.
“My first season ended in second place and the second season in fourth, we could have done better. It’s a great environment with good people, from chairman Americo de Almeida and director Ricardo Mannetti to my technical team, players, and supporters.
Being at Ongos made me a better coach both in personality and football knowledge,” he said.
He added that while he regrets leaving, he remains grateful. “God’s plans are not our plans, but He always makes a better way. I wish the team well, including whoever comes next,” he said.
FC Ongos took to social media to bid farewell to Elemu.
“His technical prowess and dedication have been a cornerstone of our recent successes, and we look forward to seeing him thrive in his next chapter,” said FC Ongos.
Currently, FC Ongos sit sixth in the Namibia Premier League with six points from four matches, while Bucks Buccaneers trail just behind in seventh with the same tally from four outings. -lmupetami@nepc.com.na
