Ongwediva

Speaking at the occasion of Kundana’s second birthday celebration at the newspaper’s trade fair stall in Ongwediva, the Managing Editor of New Era Publications Corporation (NEPC), Toivo Ndjebela, thanked the readers for their continuous support over the past two years.

Ndjebela said the growing number of Kundana readers continue to be their biggest strength going forward. “The readers remain our single biggest asset and we cannot thank them enough for their support,” Ndjebela said.

Some of Kundana’s key achievements are attributed to the life-changing moments experienced by those who were fortunate to receive assistance from the general public and government after Kundana published their stories.

It was noted that Kundana has also done tremendously well in informing government officials of the situation of people in dire need of assistance, many of whom were assisted following the publication of their stories.

Ndjebela thanked the Kundana team, singling out editor Desie Heita, as well as his deputy, Helvy Shaanika, for fair and broad coverage, which have reduced newspaper returns by at least 74 percent over the past two years.

Ndjebela says the fall in returns is an indication of the nation’s appreciation of the newspaper.

The deputy editor, Helvy Shaanika, applauded the readers for making Kundana one of the most read papers, especially in the remote rural areas.
