Kunene career fair concludes in Sesfontein

SESFONTEIN – The Annual Kunene Regional Career Fair 2026 concluded at Elias Amxab Combined School in Sesfontein on Saturday.

The week-long outreach programme aimed at providing career guidance to learners across the Kunene region.

The career fair, organised by the Kunene Regional Council Directorate of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, visited several towns, including Khorixas, Outjo, Kamanjab, Omuhonga and Opuwo before concluding in Sesfontein.

The initiative targeted learners from Grade 4 to Grade 12, exposing them to a wide range of career opportunities and educational pathways available in Namibia.

During the fair, representatives from higher education institutions, vocational training centres, government offices and private companies engaged with learners through exhibitions and information stands.

The exhibitors shared information on various study programmes, admission requirements and career opportunities in fields such as education, health, engineering, business and vocational training.

Officials at the fair emphasised the importance of studying at accredited institutions of higher learning and obtaining qualifications that are recognised by the relevant authorities.

Learners were encouraged to carefully choose institutions that offer accredited programmes to ensure that their qualifications are recognised in the job market and allow them to further their studies.

The career fair aims to ensure that learners, particularly those in remote areas of the Kunene region, have access to information about different professions and educational opportunities.

Teachers who accompanied learners to the event welcomed the initiative, saying it helps learners make informed decisions about their future careers.

They noted that many learners in rural communities have limited access to career guidance and information about institutions of higher learning, making such outreach programmes important.

Through direct interaction with professionals and institutions, learners were able to ask questions and gain a better understanding of the requirements for pursuing their desired careers.
