Kunene Regional Governor Dudu Murorua was sworn in yesterday as next governor of the region after having won re-election.
He renewed his oath of office before Opuwo court magistrate Sunsley Zisengwe at the Regional Council chambers. Murorua’s term of office was scheduled to expire tomorrow, Friday.

He will again serve for the next three years as chairperson of the management committee. Two other serving management committee members were also duly sworn in after emerging as the sole solely nominees.
They are Hendriks Gaobaeb of Sesfontein constituency and Epupa constituency councillor, Mburura Kasita.

Opuwo constituency councillor, Lydia Kavetu and Khorixas constituency councillor, Sebastian !Gobs will continue to serve as members of the National Council.

Speaking at the occasion Murorua thanked fellow councillors for the trust they were showing in him by re-electing.

He urged them to work hard and produce results that would satisfy the needs and aspirations of residents, reminding councillors the just ended 4th Swapo Congress declared the region a special target for the ruling party’s election campaign.

“Our region has been declared a special focus area and we must therefore work hard in order to satisfy our people,” urged Murorua.

The Governor also requested fellow councillors to always communicate via his office and not through the Chief Regional Officer’s office, saying this was not good protocol.

“If you go in through the front door then you must come out through the front door, not through the window,” stressed Murorua.

Out of six constituencies of Kunene, only Outjo is in the hands of the ruling party, while Murorua’s UDF controls three and the DTA two.
