Home Art Life Leni Clothing Line enters season three

WINDHOEK-After turning the fashion industry upside down with their  exquisite and creative attires last year, the Leni Clothing Line (LCL) is back with a bang!

This year, the LCL will kick off the year with their first Fashion Show, “The Designer Fashion Show Season 3”, under the theme “emerging visionaries in fashion” on March 8, at Protea Hotel Fürstenhof. Organiser and owner of the LCL, Hendrina Shikalepo, says fashion shows have always been their glamorous events boosting visibility and promoting brands. “The aim of our fashion shows remains the same. To provide a platform to creative designers to display their arts and equal opportunities for models to showcase their talents, and to boost their confidence,” says Hendrina, adding this event will open vast opportunities for young designers and models and it is an event not to miss.

LCL is a youth organisation initiated in 2013 with a mission of providing a platform to the youths. The clear goal of the event is to endorse and encourage designers to grow their brands locally and internationally, to promote and market designers and models through fashion shows. “We feel that there is a need to create awareness about young designers to the general public and Namibia at large. We also feel that young designers are creative and have good ideas and they need to showcase their talents. This is also to increase interest in the fashion industry in Namibia and appreciate what young designers are doing,” says Hendrina.

She says the fashion show is also an effort to bring together best talents from across Namibia and their event is a theme based fashion show; “emerging visionaries in fashion” which is inspired by Namibian material cultures. They will also be hosting awards at the ceremony in the category of Best Design, Best Model Male and Best Model Female. Eight designers will  participate in the event. “Speaking from a point of an upcoming designer, I feel it is very hard for a single designer to host a big fashion show alone considering the time and work involved, that’s why I came up with the idea of Namibian designers showcasing their garments together. The Namibian fashion industry is not grown yet and there is a need to assist young upcoming designers and to educate the Namibian youth about the importance of fashion in our lives,” adds Hendrina.

So far, six designers have already registered their brand to be showcased at the show. Hendrina says this event has now become a tradition, therefore it will take place two times a year, and that way designers will have more time to make their garments. “I therefore call for organisations that thinks the initiative taken by young designers to grow big in the fashion Industry is worth it, to please assist us in any way. This initiative will benefit the youth enormously, which will contribute to the social economy of our country and lead us to a successful Vision 2030. All young Namibian designers that are ready to show that they are creative in their own ways are invited to join,” she says.

There will be a lot of entertainment from artists, designers as well as models. Ordinary tickets are N$100 each and N$250 for VIPs and the doors open at seven O’clock with the event lasting until nine O’clock. (19h00 – 21h00).
