After taking a three-year break from the entertainment industry, TV personality David Mbeha is now ready to fulfill the promise he made to his late mother.
“Back in 2014, I made a promise to my mother to pursue a career in television. I am fuelled by that promise and the desire to contribute to the Namibian media industry in an impactful way,” he told VIBEZ!
In 2015, David became the winner of TLC Entertainment’s first-ever African Next Great Presenter competition, which changed his life forever.
“Winning TLC’s Next Great Presenter was an opportunity of a lifetime. From being featured in Cosmopolitan South Africa to hosting the Southern African Multichoice Talent Factory, these are opportunities I could only dream of as a little boy in Grootfontein. In 2022, I got the opportunity to be featured on Metro FM’s The Hustler Fix, and became a content creator for Joburg TV. I am eager to grow further in the industry.”
The ambitious and vibrant Mbeha was born in Ngoma, a small village in the Zambezi region, and moved to Windhoek in 2004.
He will be launching his podcast this month called ‘Uninterrupted with David Mbeha’. The purpose of this platform will serve as a conduit of conversations which bring healing, inspiration, authenticity, growth and empowerment.
“I decided to start a podcast show as a way to create a space for us to learn from one another through story-telling, and sharing different experiences on navigating life. I feel excited to embark on this journey,” he noted.
The podcast will be his way of honouring Namibian stories and creating a platform to document and celebrate stories, from filmmakers, athletes, musicians and influencers to ordinary storytellers in an authentic way.
“Listeners will be intrigued by the various guests on the show, and the wide range of topics it will cover. I believe that the Namibian market is ready, and this is a perfect opportunity to showcase to the world what we can do as Namibians in the podcast space. We consume a lot of content from South Africa, but I think it’s time to highlight our own stories.”
He hopes that listeners will leave every episode believing in their own magic, and celebrate that which makes people different.
“We should embrace the various parts that bring us together as human beings, our personal encounters, victories, relationships, the pain and sacrifices behind success. The show will be available on all podcast platforms (Apple Podcast, Spotify), and will be uploaded on YouTube.”
Mbeha, an economics honours degree holder, will also be the host of Miss Namibia 2023, set to take place on 8 July 2023 in Swakopmund.
