Mbumba reflects on presidential journey

Mbumba reflects on presidential journey

President Nangolo Mbumba today attended a service at Olukonda ELCIN church, in his home village to reflect on the presidency and thank the community for its unwavering support.

On 4 February 2024, Mbumba’s reign was an extremely difficult experience that put him to the test in ways he never could have predicted.

It was a difficult challenge for him to assume the role of leader after the death of the late President Hage Geingob, a close friend and confidant.

Taking on the role of a man he not only looked up to but also felt a strong connection with required all of his courage, fortitude, and dedication.

“Today, I had the honor of attending church service at Olukonda ELCIN Church in my home village, where I was born. Surrounded by my community, I took a moment to reflect on this journey and bid farewell as President of the Republic of Namibia,” he said.

Mbumba said: “As I prepare to hand over the baton to President-elect Cde. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who will be sworn in on 21 March 2025 in Windhoek, I do so with gratitude for the trust and support of the Namibian people.”

Mbumba was flanked by his wife, First Lady SustjieMbumba, some members of the cabinet, and his fellow villagers.
