The Namibia National Motocross Championship wrapped up its 2025 season in spectacular fashion on Saturday at Gallina Motocross Park in Windhoek, as riders from all over the country delivered adrenaline-pumping action and intense competition in the final round of the series.
According to Elzaan du Plessis, Gallina Motocross Committee Secretary, the event went well and showcased the talent amongst every class. “There were even riders who surprised us on the track. The level of competition came through very strong, with riders pushing for podiums,” Du Plessis said.
A total of 34 riders participated, with three competing in double classes, representing regions across Namibia. The day was defined not only by speed and skill, but also by camaraderie and sportsmanship. “It was a clean race, and the respect could be seen on and off the track. This year was really a tough year for many, but everyone pulled through and excelled,” said Anthea Mans, Public Relations and Marketing representative of Gallina Motocross Committee.
Among the standout performances of the day was Markus Muller in the Open Class, whose impressive skills earned him recognition as the rider of the day. Muller thrilled the crowd by pulling the holeshot in the King of the Dirt (KOTD) race and leading for several laps before finishing strong. “I feel very good about my performance and I’m very excited to push myself and my skill to the next level in the new race season,” he said.
Muller also shared insights into his challenges, noting that the most difficult part of the track was the rollers, as he hadn’t trained much for them throughout his motocross career. However, he will practice and improve on them for the next race season. Despite experiencing mechanical issues early on, he managed to recover impressively by racing on a friend’s bike.
Looking ahead, the organisers are confident about the future. Namibia’s successful bid to host the Motocross of African Nations (MXoAN) 2026 marks a significant milestone for the sport.
As the engines quiet and the dust settles on the 2025 season, Namibia’s motocross community celebrates not only a successful championship but also the momentum driving it forward.
