Erkki Nghimtina was born on September 16, 1948.

Legislative Profile

One the longest serving public officials, he was first elected to the National Assembly in 1995 and appointed as Deputy Minister of Defence, a position he held until 1997.  He was elevated to the position of Defence Minister by the Founding President Sam Nujoma in 1997, until 2005.

He was moved by the former President Hifikepunye Pohamba to head the Ministry of Mines and Energy in 2005 until he was assigned to the Ministry of Works and Transport in 2010. He was redeployed by President Hage Geingob as Minister of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation in 2015.
