WINDHOEK-Located only few kilometres from the Hosea Kutako Windhoek International Airport, in the midst of camel thorn trees, riverbeds, and a stone canyon, the Naankuse Lodge is perfectly situated either to start or finish your adventure in Namibia.
With a range of enjoyable activities available, including carnivore feeding tours, and walking with cheetahs, you are sure to enjoy an unforgettable tour at the Naankuse Lounge. The accommodation at the Lodge is comfortable and sophisticated. This part of its location is so passionately taken care of. It is surrounded by its unique different lounges and houses called villas. Whether you choose to stay in a villa or a chalet, you’ll get the exquisite experience of being away from the hustle and bustle of town and become part of the harmony and joy of the wild.
The lodge accommodation includes six plentiful in-suite chalets, each comprising a delightful blend of rich society and modern extravagance, while offering a private retreat from the roughness of Africa. All rooms are extravagantly appointed and have been designed to offer total privacy and comfort in harmony with their surroundings. Rooms boast large twin beds, air-conditioning, and in-suite bathrooms, and have their own private terrace with views overlooking the beautiful bushes around.
The villas (houses) are designed with immaculate attention to detail to create a feeling of natural beauty and comfort. They are incorporating the ethnic and rustic atmosphere of Africa, while offering the ultimate in indulgent accommodation. Each villa is under a thatched roof that conveys taking up warmth in winter and coolness in summer. Grass, wooden logs, stones, and mohair together with excessive linen and bedcovers are a unique combination that complements the lodge experience. Lodge Manager, Rhona Strauss, says regardless of tourist’s choice of lodge accommodation, guests have an easy access to the swimming pool area where they can relax absorbing wonderful views over the natural stone canyon, enjoy a glass of Neuras NamibRed or Painted Wolf Chardonnay by the pool to combine relaxation with the tastes of Africa.
Naankuse is a place where foodies and gourmets can learn new skills, share new ideas and experience new taste. It’s an easy way to get to know their food and wines, and to discover some of the world’s finest products. Strauss says tourists learn about the different styles and types of wines that the world has to offer. “They also learn skills to taste wines, such as how to “nose” and assess a wine for quality, and how to combine the right foods with the right wines,” she says.
Visiting the Logde with the City of Windhoek junior councillors over the weekend, I was blown up by the coffee-making sessions. Strauss taught us how to make an amazing cup of coffee.
Carnivore Feeding Tour
The carnivore feeding tour is one of the most astonishing activities at the Lodge. The exciting and informative full carnivore feeding tour for a once in a lifetime wildlife was a great experience. During the course of this tour, we were taken on a real treat when we visited and saw how lions, cheetahs and wild dogs are being fed. We learned how each animal came to Naankuse and learned more about their behaviour wildly. The carnivore feeding tour took place at around 10:00.
Attractions
The lodge itself is crafted from ecologically clean material including solid firewood and glass to complement Naankuse’s beautiful wilderness setting. The Lodge is situated side-by-side with the local wildlife and guests enjoy a range of amazing views of animals from their chalets.
Strauss says most of the tourists visiting the lounge are Italians and usually comes end August. One of the tourists we found at the lounge, told Time Out that he prefers Naankuse Lodge because of its landscapes and the behavioUrs of the animals.
