The Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF) has officially unveiled the national beach volleyball teams set to represent the country at the upcoming CAVB Zone VI qualification tournament, a key step in the road to the African Nations Championship (CAN) and the 2028 Summer Olympics.
The continental qualifier is scheduled to take place in Maputo, Mozambique, from 30 April to 2 May, where Namibia’s top beach volleyball athletes will compete against the region’s best for qualification spots.
According to a statement issued by NVF, in consultation with its technical and high-performance structures, selected athletes are based on their consistent performances, commitment, and dedication to the sport.
“In the women’s category, Namibia will be represented by two teams. The first pairing consists of Meriam Mendos and Maggie Heita, while Maike Van Doorn will team up with Carmen Curshmann in the second squad.
“On the men’s side, Team One will see Max Krafft partnering with Jura Krafft, while Luca Kesselmann and Jan Eric Sack make up Team Two,” read the statement.
The federation further expressed full confidence in the selected players, stating that the teams have earned the honour to compete on the continental stage and are expected to embody the spirit and pride of Namibia.
The tournament forms part of a broader qualification pathway, not only towards the African championship, but also as an early step in the journey toward Olympic participation in Los Angeles in 2028. The NVF has called on stakeholders, partners, and the Namibian public to rally behind the teams as they aim to fly the national flag high and secure qualification against strong regional opposition.
