I am excited about the new girl group Stardust. They dominated the awards ceremony and proved their value with their outstanding performance. However their song “Lights” did not deserve to win Best House. That song in question is a dance song. It is not House. Who were the two girls with the white strollers? The two girls made the NAMAs look like a primary school talent show.
Finally we have a true representative of R&B in the country with Lil D walking away with Best R&B. Prolific Article did a fantastic job in producing the work for that album. He should’ve been awarded Best Producer as another song he had a hand in, Katutura Kid also begged Best Hip Hop. The girl that performed with the Baainaar based group DOTCOMZ made it impossible for any peace loving Namibian to enjoy their set. Gents, I don’t know whose girl that is in the group but push her to administration or something. She cannot sing.
There are two categories which will cause problems in the near future:
- Radio song of the year
- Song of the year
While we at it, can we split the Entertainment DJ of the year award into 3? There is a difference between a Disk Jockey, a Radio Presenter and a Radio Disk Jockey. Best collaboration was well awarded to Gazza as the combination of Uhuru and Dj Buckz sizzled right throughout 2014.
Black Vulcanite are deserved winners for Best Video as that video is incredible! The concept, colouring and execution of that video is brilliant! Thank you NAMAs for educating Namibians that there are other brilliant songs other than Digaga off the full force album by Tswazis.
Awarding Rinelda Mouton Entertainment Journalist of the year is awarding mediocre. This is the same reporter that called Mr Makoya “Dr Makoya” and continuously made mistakes in her reporting of entertainment throughout 2014? Selma or Ndapewa deserved that award. Dankie NAMAs for certifying that we only have one gospel artist in Namibia. Entertainment DJ of the Year for Gospert Kaffer was a victory for the south and only for the south as //Karas FM only broadcast in the said region.
NAMAs Special Recognition Award and Lifetime Achiever Awards were farts this year. Those soft but powerful farts? Yeah, daarie eene!
One last thing on the NAMAs, why is it that category presenters always act so surprised every year when the spotlight is on them while you had the opportunity to rehearse with the technical crew days in advance?
Until the next loop, we say #GMTM!
