The Namibia Aquatic Sports Federation (NASFED) youth team wrapped up a successful campaign at the South African National Youth Swimming Championships in Port Elizabeth, delivering podium finishes, personal bests and strong performances across the board.
According to coach Nadia Jansen van Rensburg, the team exceeded expectations, securing two silver medals and one bronze, while also achieving multiple finals appearances and significant improvements in times. “It was a great championship with podium finishes, a strong presence in finals and excellent improvements across the team,” she said.
Tristan Nell led the charge for Namibia, claiming two silver medals in the 200m butterfly with a time of 2:20.35 and the 400m individual medley with a time of 5:06.14, the latter being a personal best. He also recorded several top-four finishes and notable personal bests in the 800m and 200m freestyle events.
Ariana Naukosho added to the medal tally with a bronze in the 400m individual medley with 5:31.88. She narrowly missed out on another podium finish after placing fourth in the 200m breaststroke, while also achieving a personal best in the 50m breaststroke.
Nathan Bock produced an impressive swim in the 100m freestyle, finishing fourth in a personal best time of 53.68 seconds. He also recorded a personal best in the 50m butterfly.
Hoandi Hoffmann delivered consistent performances across his events, gaining valuable international experience and contributing to the team’s overall success.
The results mark a strong showing for Namibia at the competition, highlighting the growth and potential of the country’s young swimmers on the international stage. -hnalupe@nepc.com.na
