Namibia Premiership outfit Khomas Nampol have already intensified training ahead of the new Namibia Premier League season, despite uncertainty over when the league will officially kick off.
Nampol, who gained promotion two seasons ago, have enjoyed a solid run in the top-flight league, consistently finishing among the top five since their debut. Last season, the Khomas-based side finished third on the log with 50 points.
Team head coach Fortune Eichab yesterday confirmed preparations are in full swing. “Our preparations for the new season are underway. We have been training for the past three months already, and I can say we are about 30% where we want to be ahead of the new season,” he said.
Although the transfer window is still open, he said the technical team is satisfied with
the current squad and plans no new signings.
“We are building a team we want to compete with in the new season. We have retained all our players, and we are looking to build from that. We believe in the squad we have,” Eichab said.
Reflecting on last season, he said: “I think we did well in the first quarter of the league and we slowed down a bit. However, it was a great season, and we finished third, although it wasn’t where we wanted to be.
I think we would like to build on that next season,” he added.
