NBIC trains young, coastal entrepreneurs

Home Business NBIC trains young, coastal entrepreneurs

WALVIS BAY – The Namibia Business Innovation Centre  (NBIC) of the Polytechnic of Namibia is hosting a three-day training workshop at Walvis Bay to support aspiring young entrepreneurs and established SME’s to make their mark in business and industry through creativity and  innovation.

According to Lisa Hollman an outreach officer at the NBIC while participating in last year’s Erongo Trade Expo she saw a need to empower young entrepreneurs and SMEs at the town so that they can be better equipped when entering business. “The aim of the training workshop is to empower them with skills, while at the same time encouraging them to think outside the box. During last year’s visit to Walvis Bay we identified how enthusiastic some of the aspiring entrepreneurs are and this  prompted NBIC to work in the Erongo Region focussing, specifically on Swakopmund and Walvis Bay,” she said. “The participants are guided through a comprehensive programme, in which they learn how to create innovative business ideas and how to add creative aspects to already existing businesses. They also reflect  on ideas to  discover new opportunities  through the workshop,” Hollman explained.

The NBIC is an initiative by the Polytechnic of Namibia and aims to proactively stimulate and support innovation, entrepreneurship and social upliftment through the exploration, research and development of business ideas, in order to generate and incubate successful businesses and to bridge the technological divide for a globally competitive economy and inclusive society. The workshop ends today.
