Gospel music enthusiasts were treated to an unforgettable night of moving and inspiring music at the live DVD concert recording under the theme ‘Safe in his Sanctuary’ by gospel songstress Ndenda, real name Helena Andreia Ngombe.
The concert, which took place at Tabitha Conference Centre in Windhoek on 6 May, was a testament to the power of gospel music to uplift the human spirit, and illustrates how well the singer is cementing herself in the music industry.
From the moment Ndenda took to the stage, the energy in the room was palpable. Complemented by a full band and backed by an eight-piece ensemble of powerful backing vocals, Ndenda set the room into praise and worship with a powerful rendition of one of her most popular songs, ‘Amen Hallelujah’, which set the tone for the musical line-up. Dressed in a stunning champagne rose gown she had designed and tailored herself with guidance by Ester, a skill she harnessed additionally as a music student at the College of the Arts, she performed a mix of classic gospel songs and original compositions; each one delivered with a passion and sincerity that left the audience spellbound.
Her duet with fellow gospel artist Elizabeth embodied reverence and gratitude, which was truly inspiring as they sang ‘In your Sanctuary’.
Another on-stage guest included one of Namibia’s favourite male singers – Pride – who also performed a duet with her on the song ‘How great thou art’. The chemistry between the two singers was evident, and the audience was treated to a truly memorable performance.
The concert was not just about the music, as Ndenda shared her personal stories and experiences throughout the show, giving fans a glimpse into the heart and soul behind the music. Her heartfelt messages of faith, hope and love are sure to inspire and uplift all who watch, hence the theme ‘Safe in his Sanctuary’.
“Preparing for this concert has been a long time coming. I have dreamt of hosting a concert with my name as the headliner act; it’s a manifestation of my God-given talent. My team and I have worked hard in bringing this musical offering to gospel lovers. How amazing can it ever be, having a God-sent personality on a saxophone in Gareth Harvey. The flavour of such a remarkable instrument is soul-soothing,” Ndenda remarked excitedly upon closing the performance.
Overall, the live DVD concert is a must-see for any fan of gospel music. The concert showcases her musical talent, vocal ability and passion for gospel music. With a mix of classic hymns and contemporary gospel hits, the concert offers something for everyone. With her powerful voice, infectious energy and heartfelt messages, Ndenda is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who watch.
The highlight of her performance personality is the outcome of a miracle God did in her life. She is told that at a younger age, she once passed out for 12 hours, and was only resuscitated by prayers. “This is why I do not compromise when it comes to praising and worshiping God,” she added.
The DVD will be available to music supporters and avid gospel followers in the coming weeks, keep an eye on her socials for availability, and don’t miss out on this incredible experience.
