A 39-year-old man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly raping a 17-year-old boy on various occasions at his house. 

He allegedly offered the victim N$200 to silence him after he committed the immoral. 

The incident first occurred in January and again last week at Ehafo Lya Nelulu village in the Uukwiyuushona constituency in Oshana region. 

According to Deputy Commissioner Fredrik Ndjadila, the suspect allegedly invited the boy earlier this year to his house and raped him. The matter was not reported at the time. 

Police said he once again invited the victim to his house and raped him for the second time last week. This time, the suspect’s girlfriend came to the rescue of the victim and notified the victim’s father. 

The victim was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. He is a grade 8 learner. The suspect will make his first appearance in Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court today. 

The victim’s father told New Era that the suspect was recently arrested and granted bail in a different matter, in which he allegedly raped his nephew. 

“My son is no longer concentrating in class. We took him to the social worker for counselling,” he said. 

Police investigation continues.
