WINDHOEK – New Era Publication Corporation (NEPC) as part of its personal development programme will start offering medical aid benefits to all its staff.

NEPC the publisher of New Era newspaper will also provide other assistance that might be needed to further its employees’ personal development growth, revealed the Chief Executive Officer of NEPC, Dr Audrin Mathe.

He said the decision was endorsed by the NEPC board last week after he made a proposal to that effect.

Mathe said New Era has never contributed to its employees’ medical aid and staff have been forking out from their own pockets to access health care. “Therefore, the board and management saw the need to offer a basic medical aid to all employees,” he said .

Mathe informed employees that the company’s targets will be divided into “four quarters”, based on which each employee’s performance bonus will be determined. This, he emphasised, would become effective as from April 1.

He urged employees to work harder and be honest in their assessments as they will be rated based on their performances. He also announced an increment of 6 percent to all staff as from April 1.

Mathe also encouraged employees to show goodwill to management and loyalty to the corporation.

“We want employees who want to achieve something not those who just come to work to earn a salary. We want to reward hardworking people who are contributing to the corporation. You don’t have to be loyal to anyone but be loyal to the corporation, as it will be here for a really long time. If you could make a difference to the corporation, you will be very proud of yourself,” he told the NEPC staff meeting on Friday.

He noted that the company employed internal auditors last year and discovered there is a need to be aggressive this year for the corporation to meet its goals.
