WINDHOEK – Namibia Primary School (NPS) recently walked away with top honours in the girls section in both the Under-12 and 14 age groups of the Junior Hockey Tournament for Katutura and Khomasdal schools at the Eros Primary School sports field.

The 5-team tourney saw NPS competing against People’s Primary School (PPS), Namutoni (NPS), St. Barnabas (BPS), St. Andrews (APS) and Eros Primary School (EPS). PPS walked away with the Under-12 boys trophy, while St. Barnabas won the boys Under-14 trophy. The most valuable players accolade in the four categories went to Uatjituavi Katunohange U-12 girls (NPS), Shali Haikali U-12 boys (PPS), Undari Vakazuvasana U-14 girls (BPS) and Kaizemi Kandjii U-14 boys (BPS).

A total of 18 teams entered in the Under-12 and 14 age categories for boys and girls, with an overall  total of 180 players all vying for top honours. The youth tourney was made possible with the generous support of the British High Commission (BHC) to Namibia in collaboration with the Hockey School of Excellence (HSH) and the University of Namibia (Unam) Hockey Club. The HSH and Unam Hockey Club selected 30 players to be groomed and natured to become future national players.
