Windhoek

The Namibian Rugby Union (NRU) on Wednesday joined the British High Commissioner in Windhoek to celebrate the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.

The event also marked 100 days left before kickoff of the IRB Rugby World Cup to be co-hosted by England and Wales in September this year.

Marking these bilateral milestones, three special team jerseys, two from the Welsh team and one signed Namibian national jersey were auctioned.

The auction raised N$4 500 with proceeds going to the Namibian arm of the International Rugby Board’s popular development project ‘Get into Rugby’, aimed at helping to bring rugby development programmes to the regions and grassroots in the country.

Mike Whitelock successfully bid for the signed Namibian jersey. The NRU was represented by the Union’s CEO, Sybrand de Beer
