The first edition of the Company Super Cup is set to take place from 29 to 30 November at the Okahandja Park Sports Stadium.
It is hosted by the Okahandja Football Club (OFC) in memory of the late chairlady Julia ‘Julz’ Hangula.
The tournament, which welcomes participation from companies in Okahandja and across Namibia, aims to celebrate Hangula’s legacy while serving as a fundraising initiative for Project Vision 30, OFC’s long-term community development programme.
OFC’s sport director and project manager Lee Angula said the event is both a tribute and a call to action for corporate Namibia to invest in grassroots sports.
“OFC is a non-profit community club with no formal sponsorship, yet we proudly run senior teams in both the men’s third division and the women’s regional league, as well as a youth academy that caters for boys and girls from U/11 to U/20, all free of charge,” stated the manager.
“We focus on football, but also on education, health, safety and social development, helping young people stay away from alcohol, drugs and crime,” Angula added.
Registration for the tournament closes on 21 November, with the team draw scheduled for 25 November.
The entry fee is N$2 500 per company team.
Participation is limited to a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 32 teams.
Attractive prizes are up for grabs: the winners will receive a trophy, 25 gold medals, and N$10 000.
The runners-up will take home 25 silver medals and N$5 000.
Angula encouraged businesses to support the initiative, highlighting the mutual benefits.
“By joining the Company Super Cup, companies will promote their brands through free banner space and build strong relationships within the community. More importantly, your contribution will help us provide training equipment, travel funds, accommodation, food, soccer boots and educational support for our players,” he said.
