Assistance from the Luxembourg government made it possible to rectify the cumbersome situation where each village had only one water metre, and only one account.

This led to disputes among villagers about how much each homestead needed to contribute towards settling the common account. The result has been non-payment and accumulated arrears running into hundreds of thousands of Namibia dollars.

Okakarara Constituency Councillor, Vetaruhe Kandorozu, reports in his activity report for 2007 that eight villages in the Otjituuo settlement have been electrified and the village of Ozongune has now been connected to the main power grid.

The electrification of Otjituuo as well as the villages of Omaihi, Orunahi and part of Okatjaveva was made possible by the Central North Electricity Distributor (Cenored), with financial assistance from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

All houses in the settlements of Okondjatu, Okamatapati, Ongongoro and Coblenz were also in the process of being supplied with electricity.
