Okakarara Warriors aim to make mark in elite league

After a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Unam Ogongo on Sunday, Okakarara Warriors secured a spot in the Debmarine Premier League as champions of the North West First Division.

Okakarara Warriors chairman Owen Simata attributed their success to all relevant parties involved during the entire season – from management and players to the overwhelming support of the fans.

Established in 2015, Okakarara Warriors’ journey to top-flight football has been marked by hard work, determination and a collective drive to succeed.

“We first played in the second division for three seasons but eventually gained promotion to the first division, where we played a season to gain promotion to the top-flight league. It wasn’t that easy but teamwork played a significant role,” he said.

“Everyone associated with Okakarara Warriors has shown exceptional dedication, and it has paid off superbly.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Simata outlined the team’s strategy to maintain their momentum, saying rather than making drastic changes, they plan to preserve the core of the current squad while adding a few talented players to bolster the team’s overall strength. “This balanced approach will allow us to build on our success and adapt to the heightened competition in the top-flight league.”

With ambitious goals in mind, Okakarara Warriors aim to finish among the top-five teams in their debut season in the elite league.

The chairman expressed confidence in the team’s abilities and their determination to make a lasting impact.

“We have faith in our capabilities and firmly believe that a top-five finish is well within our reach,” Simata said.

“We understand the challenges that lie ahead, but we are fully prepared to compete and leave a positive impression in the league.”

He also acknowledged the crucial role played by the team’s fans throughout their campaign.

“We owe an immense debt of gratitude to our fans. Their unwavering support has been the driving force behind our progress,” Simata expressed.

“Their presence in the stands, their chants and their unwavering belief in our team have all played a significant role in our promotion.”
